2020, when everything turns out differently than you think!!!
As we do every year, we would like to write a few lines about 2020.
Our year started with very positive news. Our girls Cassy and Diana were pregnant and expecting their puppies in February. At that time, nobody expected that our lives would suddenly change almost completely.
Miriam traveled all the way from Germany to support us with the two births. Cassy and Diana’s puppies were born just in time. Unfortunately, two of Diana’s boys did not make it. As breeders, we also had to go through this sad experience. It kept us very busy for a long time.
Then the virus we had seen in the media suddenly became a reality in Switzerland too. Switzerland had to go into lockdown. You always have to see the positive side of things. So we were able to spend even more time with our puppies. Michi and I were both at home at the same time. The only thing that wasn’t so straightforward for the families this time was visiting the puppies. Everything was planned very carefully and spontaneous visits were no longer possible. Nevertheless, we managed to offer all the families the opportunity to accompany their puppies as they grew up. Once again, we were extremely lucky. We found great families for every single puppy. And on top of that, wonderful friendships have developed.
The joint puppy school, which was approved thanks to our vet, was a great thing. Everyone was very motivated and looked forward to the weekly lesson. The time also brought relaxation of the corona measures, so that we were even able to have a small farewell barbecue. Many thanks to Jürg Leuthold for leading the course.
As expected at the beginning of the year, it was a very quiet year in terms of shows. This was a great pity, as we had been preparing for the big shows for some time and everything was planned. Now we are hoping for a better 2021!!!
So we concentrated on the hunting tests, which we wanted to do anyway. We also enjoyed a few relaxing days in Tyrol. Just getting out, different thoughts. Curtis passed both tests and thus fulfilled the requirements for the GP.
We are also proud of Curtis’ fantastic offspring. Once again we would like to thank the breeders from Germany, Austria and Switzerland for their trust in our Curtis. We are very grateful for the opportunity to see the little ones grow up. It was always very exciting to see how they developed.
Toffee was also approved for breeding in Germany. We are incredibly proud of this great bitch. Many thanks to Miriam for taking this path with Toffee. We are very excited to see what the future holds.
And when you have a little more time thanks to Corona, things happen that were never planned. I discovered Shelly in a photo on FB and immediately fell in love with her. A bitch with that certain something and with a pedigree that also promises something completely new and exciting for our breed. She has been a permanent member of our pack since the end of October. She settled in well straight away and is now really testing us out again. One thing I can already say. The girl has character, a real beagle through and through!!! We are very excited to see how she develops.
The plans for 2021 are set, but nobody knows yet what will be possible. The first adventure at the beginning of the year is already being planned. We can look forward to it. Corona demands a little more flexibility from us. Probably a little longer too!!!!
Nevertheless, we are looking forward to an exciting new year and hope to finally see all our friends again more often. Stay healthy and take care of yourselves!!!
See you soon!!!!
