As with every litter, we went for an x-ray a week before the birth date. And we were able to take the first family photo. We are expecting 4 little ones from Diana & Spike. We are very excited and are now waiting together with the proud mom for the happy event.

Diana is still enjoying the time until the birth with lots of cuddling and sleeping, but she is still our whirlwind and always at the forefront.

Then finally the time had come. The time of birth was approaching and we prepared everything. As we were checking Diana’s temperature and she had already dropped her temperature on Tuesday, we decided to go to the vet on Friday morning. Just to see if everyone was okay. Everything was perfect at the check-up. Mom and puppies were fine. But Diana didn’t show any signs that it might start at some point in the next few days. So we decided to check her progesterone levels. And realized that she was still a long way from giving birth. My vet then decided to induce the birth. The puppies are ready to take the step into life and are all doing very well. Better now than waiting too long.

The decision was the right one! On Saturday afternoon we were surprised with 4 bicolor puppies!!! Two males and two females. What a joy. Especially Diana was very happy because she had a lot of negative memories after the last litter. Especially with the first puppy she was afraid we would have to take the puppy away from her again. But fortunately this feeling subsided with each puppy and her confidence returned. Now we are enjoying the puppy time with Diana to the full. She is simply a piece of gold and a wonderful mommy!!!
