Crufts 2018
Definitely worth a visit!!!!
Last year we decided to travel to England this year to what is probably the most famous dog show in the world. As you had to qualify for this show in advance, we were all the more pleased that we met all the necessary requirements and could start our road trip. First of all, Cassy had to be registered with the English Kennel Club. After registration, this was confirmed with a fantastic certificate. Everything also went smoothly with our friends Lucas and Karina and we were looking forward to our vacation together.
We set off on 07.03.2018. We decided to start at 5 pm in the evening. To drive through the night and take the first ferry in Calais in the morning.
The journey went without any major problems. We arrived at the port on time. All the papers were checked at check-in, especially those of our dogs, of course. Everything was tip-top and off we went towards the ferry. The crossing took 1.5 hours, but we all slept through it. Just as well, because in England we continued on the road with left-hand traffic. Michi took over this task. He was the driver from now on and so only one of us had to get used to this really strange situation. He did a really great job!!!
Unfortunately, we had a lot of traffic jams from Dover to Birmingham, so we didn’t arrive at our hotel until after midday. Luckily, we were allowed to move into our rooms after a walk with the dogs. I’d say all four of us fell straight into bed!!!! 20 hours of driving is quite a long time. We arranged to meet for dinner at 7pm, which we all managed with a lot of effort. The food was really great, as was the hotel. We had a great restaurant with us which also scored points for its ambience. Over dinner, we discussed everything for the next day and agreed to go to bed early to be fit for the next day.
The Crufts adventure started at 6 a.m. !!!! We made our way to the halls. Thanks to the drop off, we were allowed to unload our things directly at the entrance to the hall. Perfect organization helped us to arrive stress-free. No waiting at the entrance and no crowds around the rings. Everything was allocated perfectly! Every dog had its place. So we started judging on time at 8 o’clock.
Cassy had to be patient for a long time and I tried very hard to keep her happy. I was thrilled, as always she presented herself superbly in the ring! At 16.30 it was finally time for the big moment. I really enjoyed walking on the green carpet. I won’t forget this moment that quickly. Cassy was not placed, but as always was the best for us!!!!
Overwhelmed by all the impressions, we made our way to the hotel. According to the satnav, it was actually a 20-minute walk. But it took us a full 2 hours because of the traffic jam. Fortunately, we didn’t stop laughing, and even that couldn’t spoil our day.
We had a nice dinner at the hotel and then fell into bed tired!!!
On Saturday we had a look around the city and of course we looked for a great park for our dogs. We found a huge park with a small lake, lots of geese and ducks. The dogs had a great time and thanks to the English weather, they looked like real hunting dogs afterwards. But they deserved it. And then the last evening arrived. On Sunday we left for Dover at 6 o’clock in the morning! Everything went smoothly and we arrived back in Switzerland shortly before midnight on Sunday evening.
It was a great experience, which I can only recommend to everyone. The show is super organized and you come home with many new impressions.
This was the last show for Cassy! We are waiting for her heat. She gave us the present and waited until after Crufts.
Now we are waiting!!! After long discussions and sleepless nights we have found the boy of her heart. You can be curious!!!!!!!!!
Diana is of course still traveling with Michi as well as her brothers Billy and Lewis!!! We are so proud and grateful to see them again and again at shows!!!
In this sense
See you soon!!!!
