The Bravehearts
Together we are strong!!!!
It took me a long time to find the time and energy to write this report. I would prefer to simply forget these hours of despair and grief. However, in moments like these, fate always shows us how connected we are and what strength we have within us!!!!!
Audrey’s pregnancy was actually very calm and harmonious, she was in excellent health and enjoyed being pampered. Only her belly showed very early this time, which surprised us all a little. So we decided to have a control x-ray. What we found out there at least just pulled the rug out from under my feet!!! So many puppies that it was almost impossible to make an exact prognosis. We drove home with the result of 10 puppies. We now looked after our pregnant mouse even better and many things were reorganized at short notice for a large litter. We were ready and Audrey was probably counting every day. Her belly got bigger again so that she could hardly sleep as lying down was already causing her problems. I was in constant contact with the veterinary clinic and together we decided to get the puppies on the 60th day so that Audrey would have an easier time. So on Wednesday 24.05.2017 we left for the veterinary clinic. Full of anticipation for the little ones. The little ones were all born within 4 minutes. The vet assistant came into our room with a basket full of puppies. There are 10 puppies and they are all super active!!! We were very happy, also when we saw that there was a tan-white among all the black ones!!! Now my mom and I waited impatiently for Audrey. But she didn’t come. I had a very strange feeling!!! And suddenly the doctor was standing in the room and I could see from his face that something was wrong. From then on everything happened very quickly. It was like a nightmare! We put the puppies in Audrey’s house for a short time, only 10 minutes later Audrey was already in my mom’s car and we were on our way to Zurich with her and the puppies.
They already knew in Zurich. The doctors didn’t give us much reason to hope. If there was anything wrong or Audrey needed another operation, they would let us know. So we drove home and hoped not to hear anything all night. Nobody slept and now we waited for a call from Zurich to see how Audrey was doing. Finally the phone rang. The doctor said they had fought all night but Audrey had fought the hardest, unbelievable what a will to survive this dog has. The doctors still say it’s a miracle!!!! Audrey is stable, but many organs have suffered considerably from the loss of blood, so we must continue to hope. But we can take the puppies home with us. So we drove to Zurich. We received training on how to feed the puppies and what to look out for. This is much more complicated than we thought, but we are slowly but surely becoming professionals and a well-coordinated team of friends is helping us!!!!!
Now 1.5 weeks have already passed. The little ones are slowly opening their eyes and Audrey is back home with us, but still under close supervision in the animal hospital. But we are enjoying every moment together and hope Audrey regains her strength quickly so that she can still enjoy her wonderful children!!!!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was there for us. Especially to my parents, without them I don’t know what would have happened!!!!!! Also to all the friends who supported us from near and far, whether here in person or simply with a phone call or a motivating message! We were very happy and touched by the great sympathy!!!!
Thank you very much !!!!!! You are SPITZE!!!!!!!!!
