Wonderful days in Wenns
Wenns had been planned for a long time because we just wanted to get out of the four walls with our dogs again. The planned show was canceled and we tried to get a place at the highly coveted ABC hunting training days. Then we got the call from Sebastian that a breeder had canceled! The joy was great. Now just keep the corona situation quiet so that nothing comes in between.
And so it was and full of joy we made our way to Tyrol on Saturday. Curtis had been entered to get a good grounding in welding on these days. As Curtis and I are a good team and hunters are not allowed to work as dog handlers in Austria, we decided without further ado that I would take on this task. Cassy was allowed to come along as support and the other girls spent a great vacation with Erika and Susanne. They really enjoyed being on vacation with Billy again after a long time. Many thanks for that.
Wenns was beautiful as always, a great hotel where you are always warmly welcomed with the dogs. Saturday was all about getting to know each other. Many new faces but also good friends were already waiting. After a lovely walk in the enchanted forest, we rounded off the day with ice cream and a delicious dinner.
Sunday then started with obedience and shot resistance. That’s when I realized that we had a lot of training to do. Curtis couldn’t do obedience yet, so we always tried very hard and concentrated. Curtis then went straight on to his first track. I was excited to see how he would go with me. He brought me to the buckle point with great concentration and did the track like something out of a textbook. We were so proud!!!
Satisfied and happy, we enjoyed the rest of the day with our dogs in the countryside and all fell into bed in the evening, dead tired.
The next few days were no different. Curtis showed a consistently great performance and so we decided at short notice to attempt the test on Thursday.
We left on Tuesday evening as we had to work on Wednesday. However, I made my way back to Wenns with Curtis later that afternoon. Unfortunately without Michi, as he couldn’t take the day off so spontaneously. I was back in Tirol by 19:30 and was able to have dinner with the other participants. However, we didn’t stay up too late and went to bed in good time. We wanted to be fit for the next day.
The morning got off to a rather leisurely start. There weren’t many dogs entered for the test, so the day wasn’t too stressful. But luckily I was the first to go. I was so nervous. But I didn’t really need to be. Curtis worked the track calmly and concentrated and also showed me the track! We passed with a very good performance. Of course, you can always complain about things afterwards, such as the points we lost due to the poor obedience. But that’s my fault and Curtis can’t help it. I am extremely proud of our Bobo and we are already looking forward to seeing how he does in the second part, the brackish test in the Vienna area. But there is still a little time left!!!
Now we are enjoying the last days of summer and look forward to seeing you again soon in Austria with a hearty Weidmannsheil!
